Overview

People have come to understand more about some of the species that are at risk of becomeing extinct. Emerging understanding of both the species and their habitats gives rise to one very important question: how might we as people influence their conservation, in either positive or negative ways? And so, through this project I have taken inspiration from the WWF and their work to design an app indangered species and habitat conservation.

Role and Duration
User Research, Visual design, Prototyping & testing

Sep-Nov 2022

User Research

I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users Iā€™m
designing for and their needs. This user group for the application are primarily wildlife conservationists and animal lovers. These users primarily reside in suburban, urban areas and rural areas.

Insights

Some users find the current adopt feature confusing

Adopt

Many users want to be able to learn more about the animals and their habitats within the app

Information

The app will need a straightforward and accessible navigation for easy use

Ideation

With the user needs discovered and journeys mapped, I started creating the information architecture and low-fi concepts for primary use cases. The goal was to find out what difficulties users faced when using the app. I conducted 15 mins unmoderated usability study. Users included anyone from the age of 18 and above.

The Solution

The Getting Wild application and website was designed with the aim of spreading awareness of endangered animals and their habitats. It is hoped that with increased awarness the community will be able to quickly prevent, improve, and preserve the current condition of habitats and species alike.
