Overview

The aim of this project was to create an app and website that provides the best ticket booking experience making an effortless, fun and exciting experience for theatergoers.
My main goal was to understand more about the problems ticket buyers face and to introduce some additional features that will create a better user experience and ease of use.

The Problem

To enhance the experience of buying tickets and make the app more immersive and simple. On the basis of this initial problem statement, I began to dig deep into the topic by starting with user research.

User Research

I conducted user surveys and created empathy maps to understand the users I’m
designing for and their needs. A primary user group identified through research
were females with the average age being around 40-45.

This user group confirmed initial assumptions about the customers, but research
also revealed that time was not the only factor limiting users from being able to easily purchase tickets.

Insights

Most theatergoers like to reserve seats when buying tickets.

Seating

Websites for ordering tickets are often confusing to use with too much scrolling involved.

Navigation

Driving to the venue to purchase hard copy tickets in person takes too much time and resources.

Ideation

With the user needs discovered and journeys mapped, I started creating the information architecture and low-fi concepts for primary use cases. I then began to conduct usability tests with the low-fidelity mockups. Through the initial design phase, I made sure to base screen designs on user feedback and findings from user research.

The Solution

The final high-fidelity prototype presented easier user flows for purchasing tickets. It also met user needs to locate purchased tickets as well as a clean layout for navigation and checkout.
