The Problem

Busy workers and students lack the time to prepare a meal but want the convenience of ordering ahead and skipping the line.

User Research

I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I’m
designing for and their needs. A primary user group identified through research
was working adults and students who don’t have time to cook meals.

This user group confirmed initial assumptions about the customers, but research
also revealed that time was not the only factor limiting users from cooking at home.
Other user problems included obligations, interests, or challenges that make it
difficult to get groceries for cooking or go to restaurants in-person.

Insights

Most adults and students are too busy to cook at home

Time

Many menus in apps are text heavy and can be difficult to read and order from

IA

The app will need a straightforward and accessible navigation in order for users to find convenient

Ideation

With the user needs discovered and journeys mapped, I started creating the information architecture and low-fi concepts for primary use cases. I then began to conduct usability tests with the low-fidelity mockups.

The Solution

The usability study revealed frustration with the search function. To streamline this flow, I found a more efficient way to showcase results.
